Dolomites Dream Trip – 2022

Published by Kyle Watson on

Skied Cortina D’Ampezzo, did the Sella Ronda, tucked the Saslong, carved up the Gran Risa, ate a bunch of really good Italian food, had a few Aperol Spritz, drove some incredible mountain passes and generally had a fine time…. See the whole story and all the photos at the link below.

We started off with some incredible Northern lights on the flight from Seattle to Amsterdam. Rex Lau our designated pro photographer on the trip had a window seat and nabbed some great photos of it. The Santa Fe, New Mexico crew flew in separately with their blinged out Kulkea Kayda bags – we all met up in Munich where we had 4 euro wagons rented. We drove from Munich via Innsbruck just over 3 hours down to our home for the week… the Moelgg family residence in San Vigilio, Italy. If you don’t know who the Moelgg’s are just google ski racers. Manuela and her brother Manfred were both ultra successful racers for Italy on the World Cup. Their trophies and race memorabilia decorate the lodge and the whole family, from Mom & Dad down to little Benni – make sure your stay feels like coming home. Manuelas husband, Werner Heel, also raced speed for Italy and we had a blast with him as he guided us on the Sella Ronda. A real highlight was him showing us the Saslong Downhill course, where we skied maybe a bit too fast for the locals.
