Hunting The Big 5 in Engelberg

We returned to Engelberg like big game hunters hoping to bag the infamous 5 freeride runs – from the mighty Steinberg, to the fickle Laub, challenging Sulz, the rare hidden Steintäli and the challenging descent of the Galtiberg – the BIG 5 are written in bold on our freeride bucket list!

Engelberg is big. Chamonix-esque big. It’s 4-6K lift and tram served vertical opens up so much different terrain you need a season to explore it all. We had a great group of long time ADLers on this trip and many of these folks had been on multiple trips.

Japow DreamTrips 1 & 2 Photos/Stories

February is Japow month, because that’s when you typically have the best storm tracks. We came back to Japan in full force with two trips back to back.  We got a storm to line upon arrival… a welcomed ADL tradition. We experienced the full menu of Japow from deep days, with daily onsens, high balls, katsu, karagi, gyoza and our favorite little deviled egg sandwiches from Lawsons to blue bird days with empty resorts all to ourselves. Each week got a little bit of everything and the final days in Tokyo brought bright lights and big laughs.

Big Race, Big Tables & Bigger Fun in Austria

The Hahnenkamm is the craziest downhill race of them all and coincidently, it’s always our biggest and craziest trip of the season. We had 14 fun skier race fans on this trip and they experienced the best Austria could throw at them – From 3 days of stellar racing on the Streif to an incredible VIP experience at the Night Race in Schladming with Franz Weber and the Kaiser himself – FRANZ KLAMMER!!!

Wengen DreamTrip 2024 Photos & Story

The Wengen DreamTrip delivers every year and this trip was no exception. We had beautiful weather for the races, airshow and even a couple bonus powder days at Murren. The guests on the trip, like Peter & Tom Dodd above, had a blast representing the Stars & Stripes and skiing the big mountains. Everyone had an epic experience filled with fondue, raclette and other Suisse specialties of the Alps. The week went by too fast but having untouched powder on the last day sent everyone home smiling.

Introducing ADL Ambassador & Current American Downhiller Erik Arvidsson

Erik Arvidsson is on the rise and he could use our help. We first met Erik in the Spring of 2021 at Worthy Burgers in South Royalton, Vermont. He had just graduated from Middlebury College and was a rookie on the US Ski Team. A chance meeting with ADL Member Tyson Rich connected him with the club. Two seasons later and Erik has worked his way up the World Cup rankings finishing 6x in the top 30 last season, along with a 9th place in the combined and 17th in the Men’s Downhill at the 2023 FIS ALPINE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!
